One of Japan’s Top 100 Swimming Spots

Sumie Seaside Beach lies at the center of the northern part of Nippo Kaigan Quasi-National Park (also known as the Minamikitaura Coast). This sandy beach in a corner of Sunue Bay, nestled between the peninsula leading to Eboshi Reef to the south and Sumiehana to the north, has been selected as one of Japan’s “top 100 swimming spots” by the Ministry of the Environment. Its waves are some of the calmest of the beaches in Miyazaki Prefecture, washing gently across the shore at intervals.
